Lizio

Lizio is classified as "A Petite Cite de Caractere, and has retained its charm as a 

traditional granite built village full of character and charm.  There are many places 

of interest to see and visit including-:The Cidrerie du Terroir     L'Insectarium     

Pottery     Equestrian Centre         26km walking/cycling   a resturant & creperie

Lake at Val Joint     5km Botanical Walk      Museum of old Brittany    

Museum of the Scrapmerchant Poet     Wild boar & Pork roast restaurant    Supermarket    Hairdressser                       

Two bars - Chez Pierre has bread, milk, ice-creams etc and Bar Retour aux Sources serves  sandwiches & salads and 

has  sweets, satellite TV and internet access and local information, Natalie also speaks excellent English and German. 

During the summer months there are many festivals of Breton arts and music

Le Roc St. Andre

The village of Le Roc St. Andre stands by the side of the Nantes to Brest canal, it has a petrol station, post office & cash point, bread shop, butchers, three restaurants, two tabacs  a small supermarket, pharmacy, a pottery and a historical church. 

Serent

Serent is 6.5 km from Lizio, it has restaurants, creperie, bars, a swimming pool,

 museum of Breton Costume, boulongerie and supermarket  banking facilities and Post Office

Malestroit

Malestroit is 16.9 km from Lizio.  Malestroit is another "Petite Cite de Caractere"

 with the Nantes to Brest canal and the river Oust running through, and a 

beautiful town center.  Malestroit market is on Thursday morning, there is also 

 supermarkets, boulongerie, butchers, shops, restaurants, creperie and bars. 

 This is an excellent area for fishing and boating activities

Ploermel

Ploermel is 17.3 km from Lizio.  Ploermel is steeped in history and legend, 

situated by the forest of Broceliande and Le Lac au Duc, a large inland lake.  

The center of Ploermel has plenty of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and bars.  

At Le Lac au Duc there is a small beach, a golf course, water sports, tennis courts,

 playground, volley ball, walks, gardens and fishing.  

Josselin

Josselin is 12.6 km from Lizio.  Josselin stands on the Nantes to Brest canal, 

with its large chateau it is also a "Petite Cite de Caractere". It has building 

dating from medieval times.  Josselin has a market on Saturday morning and

 restaurants, bars, museum, church and picnic area

 

 

MEGALITHS  (Standing Stones)

Brittany has lots of Megaliths and standing stones and there are lots around the

 Lizio area including Monteneuf and Bezon.  There are others at St. Just, La Gacilly

 and near the coast at Carnac and Locmariaquer.      

The coastline of the Gulf of Morbihan is just 45 minutes drive from Lizio, this is 

a beautiful coast with many lovely towns and villages along it including Vannes, Arradon

and Auray.
